Alabama3 brought their legendary acoustic show to Brixton Jamm, fusing electro pop, country techno, rock and blues, the band has a uniquely creative sound and avid following.
After warming up the crowd with a snippet of KRS’s ‘Sound of the police’, The Alabama3 four-piece got things off to a lively start.
With a diverse range of onlookers, both old and young the Brixton Jamm soon filled with acoustic tones and swaying silhouettes. the venue itself poses grungy yet welcoming vibes with a respectable sound system despite the slight technical guitar difficulties during mid-set.
The crowd were treated with the famous ‘Woke up this morning’ early on where Larry Love (vocals) then went on to sing a tribute collection of Johnny Cash melodies. Harpo Strangelove did not disappoint with his distinctive harmonica harmonies and Aurora Dawn led the way with her gospel vocals.
Although not their usual acid house sound, the acoustic set was filled with country and delta blues. The night was clearly enjoyed by all and I highly recommend going to see these sunglass wearing psychedelic electro county blues rockers.
